5-Axis Aluminum Machining Services
Multi-Axis Machining for Complex Aluminum Parts
Browse our CNC aluminum parts for custom component examples and drawing-based manufacturing enquiries.
HKAA supports 5-axis aluminum machining for custom components with complex contours, angled features and interfaces on several faces. The purpose is to provide machining access and control feature relationships where the geometry benefits from a multi-axis approach. The selected route depends on the drawing, workholding, alloy and inspection requirements.
When to Consider a 5-Axis Process
Multi-axis machining may suit angled holes, connected surfaces, complex housings and robotic components with features on different faces. Reducing repositioning can help preserve relationships between interfaces, but tool access and workholding must still be reviewed. The drawing review establishes whether indexed positioning, simultaneous machining or a combination of processes is appropriate.
Drawing Details That Affect the Process
Provide a 3D model together with a 2D drawing identifying datums, critical dimensions and geometric tolerances. Mark the feature relationships important to assembly and clarify which surfaces need a specified finish. Thin sections, deep cavities and internal corners require a review of tool access, support and deburring requirements.
Aluminum Materials and Finishing
Specify the aluminum alloy and temper on the drawing. HKAA reviews 6061-T6, 6063, 7075 and other requested grades against part geometry and project requirements. For material selection questions, read our 6061 aluminum CNC machining guide. Material substitution should be agreed before production. Anodizing, sandblasting, polishing and other specified finishes are reviewed during quotation. Identify cosmetic faces, masking areas and dimensions that apply after finishing. The finish specification and machining allowance must be considered together for mating surfaces, bores and threads.
Measuring Multi-Sided Features
The inspection plan should define how angled features, bores and mating faces are related to the drawing datums. CMM measurement may be used for specified feature relationships, with the inspection scope agreed before production. Achievable tolerances depend on geometry, material condition, access and the measurement method.

Request a 5-Axis Aluminum Machining Review
Send a 2D engineering drawing and 3D model, drawing revision, alloy and temper, quantity, critical tolerances, finish and inspection requirements. Include your requested delivery date and identify any mating parts. Our engineering review establishes the manufacturing route and quotation scope before production. Highlight angled surfaces and feature relationships that are difficult to produce or inspect. Request a 5-axis aluminum machining quote or review our complete aluminum machining capabilities.
