Drawing-Based Aluminum Turning
Browse our CNC aluminum parts for custom component examples and drawing-based manufacturing enquiries.
HKAA provides CNC turning for custom aluminum parts with rotational features, including circular housings, sleeves, flanges and spacers. Turning creates outside diameters, bores, shoulders, grooves and specified threads. We review the drawing, alloy, quantity and inspection requirements before selecting the process for your component.
Diameters, Bores and Mating Fits
Identify the diameter tolerances, bore depth, surface requirements and mating fits on the drawing. Features that must share an axis should be defined from suitable datums. Include the overall length, shoulder positions and any grooves or edge details required for assembly. Dimensional requirements are reviewed together with the measurement method rather than treated as a universal tolerance promise.
When a Turned Part Also Needs Milling
Off-axis holes, flats, slots and non-round pockets may require both turning and milling. The sequence depends on geometry, workholding access and the relationships between features. Review our aluminum CNC milling services for non-rotational features, or 5-axis aluminum machining for more complex access requirements.
Aluminum Alloy and Surface Finish
Specify the aluminum alloy and temper on the drawing. HKAA reviews 6061-T6, 6063, 7075 and other requested grades against part geometry and project requirements. For material selection questions, read our 6061 aluminum CNC machining guide. Material substitution should be agreed before production. Anodizing, sandblasting, polishing and other specified finishes are reviewed during quotation. Identify cosmetic faces, masking areas and dimensions that apply after finishing. The finish specification and machining allowance must be considered together for mating surfaces, bores and threads.
Threads and Inspection Planning
State the thread designation, pitch, depth and required inspection criteria. Mark the bores, diameters and faces important to assembly, and specify any runout or geometric requirements. First-article dimensional checks, in-process inspection and final checks are agreed to match the drawing. If mating components are available, identify the scope of any fit or trial assembly review.
Prototype and Repeat Production
Prototype requirements can establish whether a turned part fits the intended assembly before a repeat order. Once the design is approved, consistent drawing revisions, alloy and temper, finish specifications and inspection records help maintain the agreed manufacturing requirements. Request an Aluminum Turning Quote
Send a 2D engineering drawing and 3D model, drawing revision, alloy and temper, quantity, critical tolerances, finish and inspection requirements. Include your requested delivery date and identify any mating parts. Our engineering review establishes the manufacturing route and quotation scope before production. For threaded components, also include the thread standard and mating-fit requirements. Request a custom aluminum turning quote or see our aluminum milling and turning capabilities.
