Aluminum Housing Machining Requirements

Typical features include mounting-hole patterns, threaded ports, locating bores, mating faces and internal pockets. Specify wall thickness, flatness, fit and geometric tolerances on the drawing. Thin walls and deep pockets require machining sequences and fixtures suited to the part.

Materials and Surface Finishing

6061-T6 is a common option; 6063, 7075 and other alloys can be reviewed against the design. Available finishes include anodizing, sandblasting and polishing. Identify surfaces that require masking and whether critical dimensions apply before or after finishing.
