Drawing-Based Aluminum Plates and Panels

HKAA reviews CNC machined aluminum plate requirements for mounting and mechanical assembly applications. This design illustration shows a rectangular plate with a shallow pocket, mounting holes and clipped outer corners. The final dimensions, hole arrangement and machining requirements are defined by your engineering drawing.

Pockets, Mounting Holes and Flatness

Specify finished plate thickness, outside dimensions, pocket depth and internal corner requirements. Locate holes from the relevant datums and identify any threads, countersinks or features needed for assembly. Mark the mating surfaces and explain which flatness or surface requirements control the fit.

Thin sections, uneven material removal and restricted pockets require an appropriate process review. Where a plate interfaces with an enclosure, include mating clearances and the dimensions that apply after finishing. The illustration does not establish tested performance or a universal precision specification.

Material, Finish and Inspection

Specify the aluminum alloy and temper on the drawing. Material selection, surface finishing and inspection requirements are reviewed during quotation. Identify cosmetic faces, masking areas and dimensions that apply after finishing. Critical dimensions, datums and any first-article documentation must follow the agreed drawing revision.
