Custom Manufacturing Overview

HKAA manufactures custom aluminum gears to drawings for mechanical assemblies. Gear geometry, alloy, finish and inspection criteria are reviewed before quotation.

Machining Features

• Machined bores, hubs, mounting holes and mating features
• Prototype and production quantities reviewed per project

Specifications to Include

Include gear type, module or diametral pitch, tooth count, pressure angle, face width and bore dimensions. For helical designs, specify helix angle and direction; identify the required gear accuracy and inspection method.

Aluminum Material and Surface Finish

Specify the alloy and temper, operating requirements and surface treatment. Any coating allowance on tooth profiles, bores or mating surfaces must be addressed in the drawing review.

Inspection and Production

Tolerance capability is evaluated against part geometry, material condition and measurement method. Mark critical dimensions and datums on the drawing, and specify any first-article or final inspection reports. Prototype approval, production quantity and delivery requirements are agreed during quotation.
